Knights Healthcare caters for both the individual and groups through a variety of Medical Aid options from basic Hospital Plans to the more Complete and Comprehensive benefits. KNIGHTS HOSPIPLAN
This is an insurance based hospital cover for the Religious Clergy only. All new applicants may have pre-existing conditions excluded for life. Cover may be declined in total for an applicant based on history. No membership cards are issued, no emergency transport facilities are included, no out-of-hospital compensation will be paid i.e. doctors, dentists or optometrists. The plan is also age dependant with a Persons under 70 and 70 Plus option. The Compensation specified for Related Expenses shall cease as soon as the Insured Person has been discharged from Hospital. In addition, each Insured person (under 70 and over 70) has cover for Accidental hospitalisation to the maximum cover per event of R125,000 and the maximum for a twelve month period is R250,000. The options are subject to excesses payable each and every claim.
The Institution admitted to may require a deposit prior to admission as well as full settlement on discharge. These costs then need to be claimed against the policy through Knights Insurance Brokers. Claims have to be submitted within 60 days of admission.
MEDICAL AID BASED HOSPITAL PLAN OPTION.
This is a hospital plan through a medical aid scheme. In terms of current legislation, no applicant may be refused membership, however, waiting periods not exceeding twelve months may be applied for any pre-existing condition. The scheme may also apply a Late Joiner Penalty to the premium, not exceeding 75% of the normal premium. Membership cards are issued, in most cases no upfront deposit would be required (plan dependant), accounts are settled directly by the medical aid, local emergency transport is included as well as limited chronic benefits.
